Artomatic419 Lite!

Back by popular demand! Artomatic 419 presents "Artomatic 419 Lite" this September 2007! September 13-16 will be a long weekend of arts, filled with workshops, Meet & Greet 6 with gallery bus loop, artist studio tours, and a two-day "Artomatic 419 lite".

Please visit: www.Artomatic419.org for more information, and to see how you can submit a proposal and get involved!!!

THANK YOU TOLEDO!

Thanks to all of you who came out last month to celebrate the arts with us at the 5th Creatives Meet & Greet. It was our biggest event yet, with over 1200 people in attendance on a beautiful night in downtown Toledo. The Secor Gallery was in full effect, thanks to a great art show representing some of the works of the personal collection of Jim Zaleski, in combination with works representing the artists who have studios in the Secor Building. Their open studios were visited by Meet & Greeters, who also took busses on the gallery loop to 8 different galleries in the downtown area. Some bus riders were treated to performances of Shakespeare soliloquys and sonnets by actors of the Harvest Theater, who will be presenting Shakespeare in the Park (Ottawa Park) later this summer. It was a great night downtown.

Ryan Bunch wrote an awesome article in the City Paper this week explaining what these Meet & Greets are all about, and what a pleasure it's been for us to put them together, watching the arts community grow as it finds itself in Toledo. Thanks guys, for showing that there is such a vibrant community of people hungry for the arts in Toledo, and for making yourselves visible by turning out for these events. It's through working together on things like this that we can hopefully uncover more resources waiting to be utilized for the arts.

ARTOMATIC 419 is just around the corner!

We are so excited that Artomatic 419 is about to happen. Artists are setting up their work, the performance schedule is all put together, sponsors have stepped up with much needed supplies and the local media (websites, radio stations and papers) have all offered support on getting the word out. We just relaunched Artomatic419.org. Before it was a recruitment site for artists, but now we've switched gears to make it an information site for the public. If you're reading this (rarely updated) blog, please make sure to spread the word!

We have a Meet & Greet update as well. The third saturday of Artomatic 419 (september 16) we'll be throwing the 4th Creative Meet & Greet. From 6-10 there will be a bus loop from the Artomatic 419 building, to Space 237, the Paula Brown Gallery & the Leslie Adams Gallery. The Arts Commssion just sent out over 9,000 invites to the event, and we're really hoping to make this the biggest Meet & Greet yet.

Finally, there has been some dialogue brewing on the message board about what should happen once Artomatic 419 is over. Stop on by and offer your two cents. We want to keep this momentum going.. wether its through more Meet & Greets, or if its through some sort of Monthly Mixer at local bars, or locally curated Art shows. The power is in our hands to make the city a better place. Lets work together to make it happen! More importantly, lets have fun while we're doing it!!!

We wanted to remind everyone to stop by our message board, and also to feel free to contact the committee members listed at Artomatic419.org if you have any questions or ideas regarding the upcoming event.

Artomatic 419 Updates!

Hello Toledo!
Sorry it's been so long since we last posted in this blog. We have been spending all of our freetime behind the scenes organizing Artomatic 419, and we forgot to blog about it! Make sure you check out Artomatic419.org to find out more information about the event. We have a sign up there, where artists, performers and volunteers can all submit their information.

We have an open house this Wednesday and Sunday at the Artomatic 419 building (1717 adams street, next to Manos in Uptown) and you can keep up with all our upcoming meetings by checking out Artomatic419.org regularly.

We also have a myspace account set up, so stop by Myspace.com/Artomatic419 and add us as your friend!

We are really looking forward to September, and we hope you are too!

In other news, the last Meet & Greet saw over 1,000 people coming through the Collingwood Arts Center. That's an amazing turn out! Lets keep it up!!!
